Casa Alva has the particularity of being located in an area of Natural Parks. And although it seems like you’re lost in the middle of the fields, listening only to the birds and the wind passing through the elm trees that flank the stream, surprisingly, you can drive to the center of Aljezur and get there in 5 minutes.
We are close to the Southwest Alentejo and Vicentine Coast Natural Park, which reveals a great diversity of coastal habitats, including beaches, cliffs, islets and isolated rocks (it has 89,595 ha, of which 28965 ha is maritime area).
And because we’re also close to the natural secrets of the Vicentine Route and the Via Algarviana, you’ll have plenty of trails to discover! Many photos are waiting for you so that, later, you can immerse yourself in the colors and smells of this land once again.
Our house is a great place from which to explore the wonderful landscapes and beaches of the municipality of Aljezur, and you only have to decide whether to go north or south to enjoy the many sunny beaches near us. The nearest beaches are Arrifana and Amoreira (8 to 10 km from our spot).
And all these experiences can be lived in multiple ways, whether you’re going to catch waves or just enjoy the spectacular views of the coastline or the many hills and valleys. Calmly strolling along the paths, serenely swinging on donkeys, energetically running or climbing, with bicycles or horses? If you don’t know what to do yet, if you’re going to look for birds or dragonflies, or if you just want to explore new cuisines, the Casa Alva team can help and provide you with the information or the right professional to give you the experiences inherent in the captivating nature of this region.
In Casa Alva you will find a haven of tranquillity and a family that will welcome you and treat you like a friend. We love nature and are happy to share the beauty that surrounds us with our guests.
Our equipment is modern and environmentally friendly:
– We don’t use any fossil fuels.
– We use a solar water heating system.
– We invested in a centralized air conditioning system with water rather than air/”fan coil” because it is more energy efficient. It also reduces the risk of allergies, as air conditioning is made with water and not air. On the other hand, bacteria and viruses are not transmitted from the air in other rooms, because there is no mixed air conditioning, the appliance only cools/heats the air in the room in which it is located.
– The walls of the house were built in such a way as to maintain an ideal temperature, avoiding the use of air conditioning.
– We also invested in a mini water treatment plant to treat domestic effluent.
– And we also recycle waste, use LED light bulbs, control the flow of water from the taps, and we’ve almost reached our goal of eliminating single-use plastic … and I’m sure we’ll reach that goal soon!
As well as being close to the Natural Park of Southwest Alentejo and Costa Vicentina, we are located in nature reserves such as the Natura 2000 Network, Ecological Reserve, Agricultural Reserve and Hydrological Reserve.
We have a small stream in our garden and orchard.
In this project, we value the development of interactions with the local community, at a social, recreational, cultural and ecological level, with the aim of helping to promote an attitude of support for biodiversity and environmental sustainability.
1- There is a closed garage for storing bicycles and other equipment, as well as an outside area for washing with a hose or pressure washer.
2- We have a tripod stand for bike maintenance.
3- We can provide a “mini mechanic’s workshop” with basic tools and tire inflation (foot pump, Allen keys, tire demounting kits, patch and glue kit, air, lubricating oil, tool storage box).
We have free outdoor parking for cars.
From the outset, Casa Alva was intended for a family who would receive guests. And the concern to provide moments of well-being and comfort for guests was evident in all the choices made, from the basic equipment to the decoration of the house.
